So I’m taking a break from posting about weddings because frankly it’s at a stand still.

I thought I’d share my thoughts on the blog I write for called, Somewhere in the City. photo (57)

I started Say Something Clever just to document my food adventures last year. It was mostly for me and for my mom who lives miles away from me. It got a little bit more popular than I had anticipated. And because of that I met Morgan. Morgan started Somewhere in the City late last year. We met up to kind of share our interests and what we wanted to come out of each of our blogs. We had very similar interests so it just made sense to partner up and make one really great blog. Not that our blog is anything close to perfect. We relaunched the blog together at the beginning of this year and it’s been nothing but fun. At time it’s overwhelming but that’s only because I’m personally working two jobs and wedding planning. It’s the good kind of overwhelming.

I know most of you know this little story but I wanted to share it again because last night we went to our first event. I mean we’ve gone to events before but this one we were invited to cover, ha. I know I seem like I’m 15 and maybe the event wasn’t that cool and maybe we were the youngest people there but the point is someone read the blog, loved what we were doing, and thought to invite us. It is just a nice little pay off, you know?

Since this is my personal blog I thought I’d share some behind the scenes and some of my favorite posts that we’ve done so far. What works great about Morgan and I, is we play off of each other strengths. Morgan is a photographer and pretty darn good, every time we go out together I guarantee she gets better each time. I’m not just saying it either, I like her so much and feel comfortable around her that I booked her to be my wedding photographer. Point is, Morgan takes great photos so she puts a lot of work into capturing our adventures and putting the time into editing them on top of her editing weddings.

I like words and I like to write, as you can tell we’re already into the fourth paragraph and only one photo. I forgot commas and I probably have a ton of mistakes but I like to write. So I do most of the writing for our blog. We designed it at the beginning of the year to be ahead of ourselves on posts.. now we’re more like two days ahead. My writing sometimes can be only 8 hours ahead. I’ll need to get better at planning my week out.

So now for some of my favorite posts. Yes, I have favorites and this is my blog I’ll share my favorites.chompOne of the first places we went to before we relaunched was Chomp Chomp. I love this place so much. I go there quite often. Read the Somewhere in the City review here.pelesWe did our first double date here and it was my first time here. I don’t like pizza that much so I never thought to go in. Until I heard about $5 pizzas on Monday nights. Oh my word. I try to go to Pele’s every Monday night!! Read our full review here.

As much as I love food and talking about it my favorite part of our blog is our People of the City posts.  It’s been so wonderful listening to everyone’s stories and passions. Man, the people we get to sit down with. First my favorite is Marti found this blog and encouraged me to keep writing. She is a big supporter of both Say Something Clever and Somewhere in the City. She has a heart to end poverty and just loves the city. (we didn’t have a camera this day so iphone 4 to the rescue)

Next is JessejesseJesse was just plain fun to talk to. He created a poetry reading group that reads once a month. It’s called Immortal Soul. He’s a deep thinker and I think it just reminded me to stop and think. Plus he has a pretty fun view of life.

More recently we met Scott.scottScott home brews and he’s won a few medals for his beer. I don’t think I’d ever get to experience something like that if it weren’t for this blog. And hey, who knew someone so legit lived in our city. Read more about home brewing here.

We do a ton with IgersJax, the Instagram account. We met up with the guy and he features us quite often. Every Thursday we pick some of our favorite pictures from around the city and feature them on our blog. If you want a chance to be featured just hashtag igersjax. If you want to throw in our hashtag too, we wouldn’t mind #somewhereinthecity.

We’ve had a ton of people tell us they love our blog and what we’re doing. We’ve been featured and reposted a lot and it’s so nice to hear and see, I am thankful for it. I didn’t know what I was stepping into when we started it and I can only see it getting bigger!

If I haven’t give you enough links already here’s just one more. If you want to keep updated with Somewhere in the City just follow it! Leave us some comments tell us what your favorite is! Click here!

I know I’ve been a little quite on here and it was intentional. Today is the day it’s been publically announced that I’ll be helping Morgan create the Somewhere in the City blog. Our passions for a city are very similar so it just made sense to work together. We’ve been working hard at planning and writing up posts. It’s been so fun and Morgan and I are having a grand time taking adventures. Say Something Clever was created for my love of food and my own personal gain. This blog will still exists but for now I’d like to keep directing you to Somewhere in the City’s blog. photo (57)Check out our relaunch from the very beginning here.

Can’t wait to see where this all goes!

For Christmas Jared gave me an Iphone. It’s not the new one but it’s my first Iphone, actually it’s my first smart phone. I don’t know if this is sad or typical but I really wanted it to take pictures. I’ve had a lot of fun with Instagram and thought I’d share some of the recent pictures. Along with captioning them. photo (46)Cute detail in Violet in 5 Pointsphoto (47)Punk Monk Beer from Intuition but we were at The Salty Fig for their opening night. Oh the joys of Instagram. I feel I am behind the times but at least I’m not on it!

I started working at Urban Outfitters this past week. That’s why my posts haven’t been so consistent. It’s a great seasonal job, maybe I’ll stay after the holidays are over.

It’s been nice since Urban has been one of my go to places to shop for the past three years. I have done a little research into the company and it seems to be a very giving company, who takes care of their employees.

I posted this video before I started working at UO thinking it was funny. To my dismay I found out that most of this is true. Ha.

So if I seem a little quiet on here, it’s because I’m working two jobs! I’m not complaining at all. I love working and I love staying busy. I thank God for my ability to work and my good work ethic.

Happy Thursday! When you’re sick your favorite things, aren’t really your favorite things. So may this be a little remedy to all you sickies.

1. Emergen C. Luckily I have a pretty nice gentlefriend who runs to the store and gets the biggest box of Emergen C. I’ve drank 2 a day.

2. Echinacea Tea. I’m not a fan of flora tea but this stuff kicks a lot of nasty things in your body. After reading up on what exactly it does, it does more then just help you out with a slight cold. I should probably start drinking it on a regular basis.

3.Chicken Noodle Soup. I’d prefer this is home made but when you’re a young adult and wants soup right away this is what you get. I really hate soup out of a can, I always think it tastes like metal. It is so gross. At least it’s not Campbell’s.

4. Nyquill. Do I really need to say what I wanted these for? Ha

I hear the bug is going around! Hope you guys don’t get what I got!

I’m going to be traveling home to the land where we say, “pop” and not coke, even when it’s a Pepsi. I’m super excited not only because I haven’t seen my parents in over a year but because Jared is going with me! It’ll be his first time meeting my parents! It’s been awhile since I’ve taken a vacation so I sure am ready to.I am from Rensselaer, Indiana. This picture is actually written out by counties. So if you’re actually wondering where I am from, it’s Jasper County.

The thing about going home is I won’t have as much access to a computer so blog post will be short and few. The positive thing is, when I come back I will have a ton of photos to share!

I can’t wait to share them with you guys!

Someone recently showed me this girl’s blog called Deer Circus and the girl is ever so cute. Her husband works in the pharmacy in Walgreen’s and every Monday she sends him a love letter. This isn’t your typical hand written love letter. She takes a picture, adds some sweet words, and sends it to the photo department at his store. On his break he goes and picks it up. Isn’t that just the cutest? I am not usually one to gush about these types of things but creativity and words are how to swoon me. Reading through her blog made me really appreciate Jared (who is my gentlefriend.) What’s a gentlefriend? A gentlefriend is my boyfriend. I don’t like the terms boyfriend or girlfriend, they sound too juvenile to me. So I am a ladyfriend and he is my gentlefriend. I’ve been told it sounds creepy but in my mind, we’re just cute.

Since being in a relationship with Jared I have only ever spoke of seriousness between us. Only a few people get to know how sweet he actually is. Girls ask me all the time about weird things about us. Come to find out girls like talking about those things and I am the abnormal one in conversations. You girls like to know what Jared did for me and where he took me out to eat. You like to hear about him opening doors and writing me love letters. Why do you want to know so badly?  Since reading that girls blog I’ve decided I’m going to share with you guys, mostly the girls, things that I thought were special because you guys like it.

I was told I’d never find a good guy growing up, I believed those voices. My ultimate goal from these posts is not to make you jealous or boast about my gentlefriend. My goal is for you to see that there are great guys out there. You deserve to be treated well. You are worth more then what you think you are. You are valuable and you should be taken care of like so. I just so happen to have a perfect example for you..
We were sitting on the couch and I was yet once again complaining about the heat. (I don’t like Florida because of how hot it gets here) I was telling Jared how much I loved blankets and wrapping myself up in them. I asked him if he’d build me a house. He said he could try. I asked him if he could build me a house made up of blankets, so whenever I was cold I could tear pieces of the wall down to curl up. He put a blanket over our heads and said, “This is our first house.”
